Dear Friends and Fellow Believers, The Lord has again brought a year of blessings to Christians in Communications. I wanted to briefly update you on recent happenings, tell you about our 2008 plans, and provide information on your membership status.
In 2007 we hosted fellowship breakfasts at the NCTA Show, the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, CTAM and at The Independent Show sponsored by ACA and NCTC. We were blessed financially and end the year with a positive balance.
Just off the world famous strip in Las Vegas, Nevada, site of the 2007 NCTA show, 1,682 volunteers (many from CIC's ranks) came from more than 100 churches to serve 3,019 guests at a special Cinco de Mayo outreach project.
In an effort to bring more positive attention to our industry and put Christian teachings into practice, Christians in Cable joined the Convoy of Hope festival, an outreach to the Las Vegas community offering food, medical and dental care, job and social services help and hope to those who could use a hand up. We hope to participate in similar events going forward.
We’ll be announcing firm dates, locations, times and speakers for the 2008 breakfasts shortly. As we prepare our schedule, we are cognizant of industry talks underway to possibly consolidate several industry trade shows to a single week in the spring. While that is unlikely to occur immediately, it could consolidate our networking and fellowship opportunities. Organizing additional outreach opportunities such as the 2007 Las Vegas event with Convoy of Hope could provide us the opportunity to gather in addition to industry trade shows. We will monitor changes in the industry meeting calendar carefully and keep members informed of our meeting plans.
We are also planning to expand to other industry venues in order to include satellite, IPTV and other multichannel associations in an effort to reach out to other like minded believers. This is why we have deleted the word “cable” in our name and changed it to Christians in Communications.
The purpose of this letter is to first thank you for your continued support and participation in Christians in Communications. We know there are many requests for your time and commitment and we are appreciative that our work to keep a faith-focus in our business lives has your support. We would like to again seek your support in 2008; you will find a membership renewal included with this letter.
Please understand that membership and/or sponsorship support is not a requirement to attend Christians in Communications breakfasts. Membership isn’t exclusionary. It’s simply a mechanism for those who feel led to participate at a deeper level to share in the financial base of the organization.
Thank you for supporting Christians in Communications. We hope that you will continue to support our growing efforts in 2008. Please include CIC, its leadership and the industry in your prayers.
Sincerely,
Bob Higley
